One Sunday afternoon, Evelyn, Diana, and Journey went to the cinema in the mall, unknowing on what was going to happen next.

Excitedly, Diana drags the two girls into the theatre, buying a bag of popcorn. As the movie reaches its end, screams are heard from outside the theater. Laughing, Diana concludes that the most reasonable explanation for the screaming was that another movie was about to start. As the girls watch the end credits, screams continued to echo throughout the building— leading Journey to feel rather uneasy. Asking the others to come, the three left the theatre, and stared out in horror as groups of people hustled out of the building, individuals jumbling up and people falling to their deaths.

 

Terrified, Evelyn grabs her friends' hands, and runs out of the building. Journey, feeling rather apprehensive, stated that her family was still in the mall— they went together. Though, the girls had seen what had happened in the mall and couldn’t turn back. Journey, who had her permit, shoved the girls into the car, started the engine, and left.

 

Unfortunately, as Journey calls her parents, they fail to pick up. She decides it isn't worthwhile to head to her house— it was best to drop the girls off at their houses for safety. While heading to Evelyn’s house, the girls parked out front and ran in. Having two little siblings, Evelyn pushed the door open. Inside, Evelyn’s little brother Fenway hunched over their little sister. Startled, the boy stood up, holding his sister in his arms before running to Evelyn. The girls all freaked out, not sure on what to do — but tried to keep the boy calm, knowing he was much younger than them. The girl had a large bite mark on her shoulder and was no longer moving. Apprehensively, the girls hustle Fenway into the car, and say goodbye to Evelyn’s little sister. The others realize that heading over to Diana’s house wouldn’t be worthwhile. It was best for them to leave town.

 

Later, as the girls reach a roadblock, Diana gets bit while protecting Evelyn's little brother, Fenway. From this moment on, the girls realize how dangerous this situation is-- and how their whole life is about to change for the worse.
