MOLLY'S ART PORTFOLIO
School Projects
Many of the pieces shown are from my AP investigations on anxiety and studying abroad. Some of the other pieces included are sketches from my sketchbook, as well as digital drawings.
Investigation on studying abroad: 2021-2022
My sustained investigation is based on my experience studying abroad in Seoul, South Korea. How has this helped me grow as an individual?
Throughout my time studying abroad, I learned about a completely different culture from my own, though my anxiety of going to new places hindered me from fully experiencing and enjoying my time in South Korea. In my artwork, I represent how I grew as an individual through the decrease of the symbolism of anxiety through the representation of the friends I made in Seoul, as well as my own experiences visiting different locations in South Korea.
Investigation on anxiety: 2022-2023
As a little kid, I have always struggled with feeling nervous. I’d often keep my hand on my chest during long car rides to make sure it was still beating: I didn’t understand it wasn’t normal to be nervous about something like this. As I grew older and was diagnosed with anxiety, I have realized how much of a severe impact this has had on my life. Throughout my life, I felt like opening up and talking about my anxiety was something forbidden: so, I always hid how I felt, and I didn’t talk to anyone about it. As a kid, I felt vulnerable, confused, and upset. I wanted to be there for my family as much as I could, but I struggled to cope with my own feelings as well. This year I am investigating ways I have coped with my anxiety, creating a some-what unsettling feeling to describe how it feels like to live with severe anxiety.
