Friendship Lock

Materials: Acrylic paint on canvas

Size: 6 x 6 in

Year Created: 2021

Idea: I got reference for this image from when I was at Seoul Tower. I remember feeling a lot less nervous than how I usually felt throughout the trip. My friend purchased a heart for us to put both of our names on-- which is the focal part in this piece. The text written in Korean says, "Molly and Eden". I tried to use very bright, bold colors in this piece of art to highlight my mood at the time, no longer being a juxtaposition as I was feeling relatively happy, carefree, and not too nervous at all! I had a great time at Seoul Tower, and all of the locks I saw really were beautiful, since there were so many colors lined up right next to each other. The beauty of it was that each lock represented one's friendship with other person / ones love for someone else, and my lock with my friend represents the same idea as we still talk to each other quite frequently.

Synthesis: Used bright colors to represent hope and happiness.
